In September 1991, Huawei rented the third floor of the Haoyecun Industrial Building in Bao'an County, Shenzhen, as a place to develop program-controlled switches. More than fifty young employees followed Ren Zhengfei to this dilapidated factory, beginning their entrepreneurial journey full of hardship and uncertainty. They divided the entire floor into four sections: single board, power supply, general testing, and preparation, plus a warehouse and kitchen. People worked day and night in the high temperature of the machines, sweating profusely as they designed and manufactured circuit boards, switchboards, welded circuit boards, wrote software, debugged, modified, and debugged again.
